Lumetta’s Lighting Brightens Freedom House Alzheimer’s Care

LWDA Design Architects, a firm specializing in Architecture and Interior Design for healthcare, rehabilitation, senior living, and care, recently completed a sizeable renovation of the Blue Skies Texas Freedom House Alzheimer’s Care.

The San Antonio assisted living memory care residence is home to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The redesign included the neighborhood commons, activity room, living and dining areas, lobby, chapel, and kitchens.

LWDA is known for taking on architectural projects that improve the quality of life at every level in local communities. The design agency set out to create an atmosphere that would allow for better sleeping as well as the lessening of negative behaviors that are many times associated with Dementia.

Lumetta’s luminaires were the preferred choice for a lighting solution to illuminate the areas. The fixtures were equipped to harness BIOS circadian lighting. BIOS, also utilized by NASA, infuses a blue lighting which mimics the temperature and intensity of sunlight and aids in the optimization of circadian rhythm, allowing people to be more alert and productive during the day. During the evening, the blue light ceases and as a result triggers the body to create melatonin, preparing the body for sleep.

Lumetta is proud to be part of this award-winning design. The custom created luminaires chosen to be the focal points in the infrastructure included Lumetta’s 34” Custom Drum Pendants, 18” and 23” Custom Surface Mount Drums, 23” and 34” Custom L2 Drum Pendants, and 6” x 24” Custom Acrylic Lite Pendants. This wide selection of spectacular fixtures, most of which were fitted with our washable antimicrobial Lumenate® diffusers made the environment come alive with shape, color, and illumination.

Lumetta’s innovative lighting solutions are handmade and of the highest quality. Our team of lighting engineers and design experts work in all commercial sectors, including medical, hospitality, education, government, retail, office, and transport hubs, ensuring complete satisfaction and the best quality and professional service for all your lighting needs. We are committed to providing superior customer service and product performance.

Lumetta’s fixtures are recognized for being manufactured with our proprietary Lumenate®, a material designed and used exclusively for our luminaire shades. Lumenate® is washable, fade resistant; antimicrobial, and designed to bringout vibrant colors, hues, and patterns. It is fully customizable to match colors and display custom graphics and imagery.

Lumetta’s Alluring Lighting Illuminates 121 Larchmere Apartments

121 Larchmere Apartments, a modern, upscale living facility and a LEED Silver Certified apartment community located in Cleveland, OH, had previously been an abandoned storefront. The massive building was in rapid decline until First Interstate Properties, with support from local government and the neighborhood community, began their extensive renovations of the housing project.

The beautiful four-story, 88-unit apartment residence is located in the heart of the Larchmere Neighborhood. The building offers its residents spacious accommodations in a vibrant neighborhood that draws visitors from all over the Northeast Ohio region.

During the conversion, it was decided that Lumetta’s Echo Grey pendants were to be specified to illuminate the seating area in the lobby. Fabricated from welded steel / aluminum / acrylic with washable, antimicrobial Lumenate® diffusers, these fixtures were an eye-catching combination of light + geometry + pattern and complemented the interior décor for a chic, ultramodern look.

Lumetta’s Echo pendants were chosen because the luminaires creatively illuminate any area in a soft yet vivid light, while projecting graceful patterns with a seamless look of both illumination and texture into the space. Echo’s proprietary patterns, colors, and finish choices have been identified with a keen eye towards aesthetics and offer designers many options for creating dramatic and coordinated interiors.

The stylish pendants proudly hang in 121 Larchmere’s lobby, suggesting subtle movement and delivering a close encounter with the art of light. Each fixture’s Lumenate® shade creates lighting interpretations as limitless as the imagination.

Whether you want to enhance the look and feel of a space through pendants, surface mounts, or wall sconces, the Echo Collection complements and enhances like no other luminaire.

Carteret Performing Arts Center (CPAC), previously the old Ritz Theater is a 55,000 sq. ft. performing arts and event center, located in Carteret, NJ. The arts center includes a 1,600-seat main auditorium, 500-seat black box theater, 5,000-square-foot art gallery and a rooftop space that has the room to host 200 people. It accommodates a variety of floor configurations for live action theatrical performances, musical performances, trade shows, meetings, and social events.

Everything from the light fixtures and seating to the architecture and aesthetics of the building have been meticulously designed and crafted to meet exact specifications.

Lumetta was chosen to elegantly illuminate the lobby with their dramatic Custom Drum Pendants. The fixtures were created with Powder Coat White finish frames, Pearl White diffusers, RGB lamping, and etched white acrylic bottom lenses. The imposing luminaires range in diameters from 54” to 168”.

Diana St. John, Carteret Director of Community Development, stated, “We love Lumetta’s drum lighting in our lobbies. We recently hosted a NJ Cannabis Insider industry event and with the RGB lamping, we were able to light the drums in green to match their logo on the marquee.”

Tom Potter of Potter Architects, LLC explains, “The lobbies are truly a tribute to all artists. The ceilings are intended to represent their creative minds. Lumetta’s lights represent dreamy swirling ideas floating in the artist’s mind, that will eventually become a work of art. These works of art then reach their apex by becoming a show–formally presented in the adjacent theater. Being able to change the color of these ‘floating ideas’ to match a particular theme is a beautiful feature of these grand luminaires.”

Monarch Landing Senior Living Residents Bask in the Light of Lumetta’s Luminaires

Monarch Landing is a 62+ Life Plan Community situated on a beautiful 60-acre campus in Naperville, Illinois.

The addition of a state-of-the-art long-term care component of the campus was earmarked as the first phase of an extensive expansion. Architectural firm Perkins Eastman created a fresh impression for current and future residents. Building amenities included a physical therapy suite, café, spa/beauty salon, secured access to and from existing independent living buildings, education/conference room, non-denominational chapel/multi-purpose room, and additional wandering courtyards and gardens.

The inspirational tag line, “Prairie Elegance,” shaped an aesthetic that emphasized an inviting, warm, and comfortable setting with crisp, clean, timeless lines and rich, earthen hues, all set within natural landscapes and gardens.

With this approach in mind, Perkins Eastman specified Lumetta’s signature Tapered 22” Cone Pendants to integrate with and complement the renovated café. The dramatic juxtaposition of the handcrafted decorative metal outer frame in an F4 Powder Coat Earth finish against the washable, antimicrobial D141 Sand Lumenate® diffuser, was the perfect enhancement to the bistro’s environment.

“Lumetta’s Tapered Cone Pendants were selected based on their overall height, design and finish capabilities. Our volume ceiling needed a substantial fixture that would not feel lost in the space, and given our prairie inspired design for the interior, we really loved how we could select finishes that related to this aesthetic. The parchment like diffuser, dark metal accents and vertical and horizontal banding tied in nicely with this style,” stated Jennifer McDermott, IIDA, Associate Principal, Perkins Eastman.

Cambridge Manor, located in Calgary’s new University District neighborhood, is focused on administrating the highest standard of care for its residents. The four-story senior care campus includes 240 units that provide residences for independent, long-term care, and memory care living.

A center for research on aging, with ties to the University of Calgary’s Research on Aging Program, will use one wing of the facility as a “living lab” for research that will provide multidisciplinary opportunities for researchers and students. The research will look at enhancing dementia care, optimizing technology, design and service systems, transitions in care for older adults, social engagement, and falls.

The campus is connected to Maple Independent Living, a 95-unit independent living facility, via a plus-30 pedestrian walkway. This connection allows residents of both buildings to connect and share amenities.

S2 Architecture facilitated extensive functional programming and site master planning exercises to understand the needs of the residents and staff, spatial relationships, density, and massing.

The architectural firm ultimately chose Lumetta to fabricate our custom L2 Drum Pendant with a washable, antimicrobial Lumenate® outer shade in D149 Slate and a complementary D66 MT Bone inner shade to provide illumination to the corridors–giving a sense of elegance to the space.

St. Louis Arc, a healthcare facility providing high-quality services, family support, and advocacy to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is located in Creve Couer, MO.

The non-profit organization determined it was time to renovate and made the decision to retrofit their Office and Community Center into an all-inclusive space that would empower the organizations’ growing population. A prerequisite of the retrofit was that the space be able to support a person-centered, coordinated care approach through smaller group settings with meaningful activities for their growing and aging population.

The agency hired Architect and Interior Design team Oculus, Inc. to upgrade their offices to a bright and modern environment.

Lighting was the main concern when it came to the transformation of the space. Softer illumination levels of light were diffused throughout the space with the use of high ceiling fixtures, recessed task and area lighting, and pendant lighting to create scale. The agency specified 2 of Lumetta’s highly regarded LED, low VOC 23” Drum Pendants with D 183 Whitewash Lumenate® diffusers for ambient lighting in front of the large TV, creating a warm and inviting environment for clients and their families to sit together.

The multi-functional space has now become a very popular setting and offers learning and support services for any seniors with intellectual or developmental disabilities in the St. Louis area.

Tampa, Florida’s Tarramor is a private gated community of luxurious homes developed by WCI, a leading provider of upscale living in luxury lifestyle communities.

WCI chose to retain Ansana Interior Design, of Winter Park, Florida to assist them in achieving the perfect layout, design and lighting for the lobby of the new development.

Ansana, in turn, quickly identified the strong bold colors and handcrafted designs of Lumetta’s Taper L2 pendants as exactly what was needed to elegantly illuminate the space while adding a dramatic flair to the overall look of the area. Additionally, these luminaires, can be designed for acoustic purposes, deflecting noise and vibration and making the quieter atmosphere that much more dramatic.

The integrated system optimizes the synergy between the handcrafted illumination and superior acoustics. The lighting fixtures are created with welded steel / aluminum frames and washable opaque Lumenate® and acoustical shade combinations.

When HKIT Architects designed the interior for Rotary Terrace Senior Housing in South San Francisco, they sought a balance between the practical and the aesthetic. Senior Interior Designer Sonja Marck found these attributes in Lumetta’s drums and taper pendants which were selected and appointed throughout the lobby and social areas.

For this project, the fixtures were used to provide accent to the public spaces where residents gather. “We like Lumetta and often use them on our projects. Their lines offer a lot of variety and color options,” Sonja shares.

Luminaires featured on this project are P53414 34” OD x 14″ H drum pendants using D60 MT Natural (Lumenate® Fiber collection) and taper pendants 32” OD x 25” H each,  wrapped in D12 Grain (Lumenate® Earth collection), both with etched white bottom lens.  Not shown but also used are 34” OD and 23” OD surface mounts featuring D12 Grain (Lumenate® Earth collection) with etched white bottom lens.

Sonja especially favors the taper pendants installed in the Community room as they complement the two-story space and reflects its warmth with the wood tone finish chosen on the shade.

The beautiful new development, recently opened, provides 81 homes for seniors, a project between Beacon Development Group and the Rotary Club of South San Francisco.

For Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX, ESa (Earl Swensson Associates)  drew inspiration from both the colonial missions of old and the San Antonio River.  A neutral color palette created a calming, timeless design aesthetic, with the artwork providing color.

Designing for LEED Gold certification, the lighting intent was key.  Natural light permeates the interiors of this 110-bed acute care hospital in the public areas, patient rooms, operating rooms, PACU, and ends of patient corridors.

Every space supports this intent. In the dining area, the choice of Lumetta’s Shadow Box pendant complements, providing a sophisticated light and airy balance within the interior space.  These box pendants  provide a comfortable level of illumination to enhance the dining area. The TransLumenate® diffuser projects a soft ambient light that augments the natural light and matches the color theme with its inner Lumenate® shade.

Shadow Cube 17” Pendant P2094, a cube version of this custom luminaire, can be found under the Shadow Collection. Made of  welded steel and aluminum with a washable exterior TransLumenate®  and a washable core Lumenate®.

Lumetta can customize most standard products under each Collection.

Spellman Brady & Company

For this resort-style senior living place near Scottsdale, AZ, nestled within the landscape of Arizona’s Sonoran Desert, Spellman Brady & Company wanted to create an oversized light fixture that felt true to the contemporary, southwestern style of the community.

The interior planning firm worked with Lumetta to find the perfect design and dimensions for the space. Once the scope was narrowed,  Custom Studio Drum Pendants in Imperial decorative metal pattern, felt perfect as the lighting element. The geometric, lattice design of the metal, the warm bronze finish, and large scale of the fixture was perfect for the lecture hall lobby.  Installing four of these pendants delivered the ideal amount of light for the lobby.

Each pendant measured 23” OD x 44” OH, with decorative metal frame wrapping around the D60 MT Natural Lumenate® from the Fiber design palette, in F7 Powder Coat Bronze finish. At the 44” height, these  were ideal for the double height rotunda lobby space.

As envisioned, the  luminaires complemented the room’s character and accomplished all of the firm’s design goals in planning the perfect lighting element for the space.

Saint Louis Lighting Group is the preferred agency for this project.
