Located within Nordstrom’s New York City flagship store at 57th & Broadway, Bistro Verde exemplifies the seamless integration of retail lighting design and lighting for hotels and restaurants. The lighting concept enhances the refined yet approachable atmosphere, supporting both the culinary presentation and the guest experience. 

At the heart of the design are 24 standard 48” Drum pendants, each crafted with Cortica White Diffusing Lumenate^® diffusers that emulate the natural texture and tonal warmth of cork. The fixtures are finished in a white powder coat with matching canopies, providing a cohesive, architectural look that complements the restaurant’s clean, modern aesthetic. 

The Drums are arranged in a recessed rectangular ceiling feature in eight rows of three, creating a rhythmic pattern that defines the main seating area. This configuration not only establishes a focal design element but also delivers uniform ambient illumination, balancing brightness, and visual comfort throughout the bistro’s space. 

The café lighting design contributes to a welcoming and elevated dining environment—soft, diffuse, and human-centric. The interplay of materials, scale, and light supports Nordstrom’s design ethos of understated luxury and attention to detail.

East Central Regional Hospital’s Cafeteria:
Once in a Blue Moon Interior Lighting Design with Lumetta’s Colorful L2 Tapers

East Central Regional Hospital, located in Georgia, is a two-campus facility, providing services for people living with developmental disabilities in a skilled nursing setting.

The medical facility’s dining area recently experienced a major renovation and the transformation, which now includes 180 indoor dining seats and serves 460 patients and staff daily, is nothing short of stunning. The lighting was to be an integral part of the new design and for this reason Lumetta’s L2 Taper lighting was specified to give the surroundings an ethereal atmosphere.

Lumetta’s L2 lighting collection is highly regarded as it offers full creative expression and allows you to pair complementary or contrasting interior and exterior Lumenate® shades for an eye-catching combination. Lumenate® is a material used for our diffusers and shades which is antimicrobial and washable–crucial requirements in hospital and other healthcare facilities’ lighting fixture specifications.

The lighting acts as both illumination and guide. The color and design follow the curves of the ceiling design to navigate users through the space. The larger brightly colored fixtures fill the generous space’s volume and draw the user’s eye upward. Designers chose blue and green to create a fresh, welcoming feeling for both staff and patients, as well as to play off the other finishes in the space. These areas are now brighter, happier, more functional rooms thanks to the Interiors Department at Dickinson Architects and Lumetta’s magical luminaires.

Monarch Landing Senior Living Residents Bask in the Light of Lumetta’s Luminaires

Monarch Landing is a 62+ Life Plan Community situated on a beautiful 60-acre campus in Naperville, Illinois.

The addition of a state-of-the-art long-term care component of the campus was earmarked as the first phase of an extensive expansion. Architectural firm Perkins Eastman created a fresh impression for current and future residents. Building amenities included a physical therapy suite, café, spa/beauty salon, secured access to and from existing independent living buildings, education/conference room, non-denominational chapel/multi-purpose room, and additional wandering courtyards and gardens.

The inspirational tag line, “Prairie Elegance,” shaped an aesthetic that emphasized an inviting, warm, and comfortable setting with crisp, clean, timeless lines and rich, earthen hues, all set within natural landscapes and gardens.

With this approach in mind, Perkins Eastman specified Lumetta’s signature Tapered 22” Cone Pendants to integrate with and complement the renovated café. The dramatic juxtaposition of the handcrafted decorative metal outer frame in an F4 Powder Coat Earth finish against the washable, antimicrobial D141 Sand Lumenate® diffuser, was the perfect enhancement to the bistro’s environment.

“Lumetta’s Tapered Cone Pendants were selected based on their overall height, design and finish capabilities. Our volume ceiling needed a substantial fixture that would not feel lost in the space, and given our prairie inspired design for the interior, we really loved how we could select finishes that related to this aesthetic. The parchment like diffuser, dark metal accents and vertical and horizontal banding tied in nicely with this style,” stated Jennifer McDermott, IIDA, Associate Principal, Perkins Eastman.

ViaSat, a fast-growing global communications company located in Carlsbad, CA, recently completed a massive expansion on the East Campus of their global headquarters. The project encompassed 23 acres and brought their total footprint within the city to 1.1 million square feet between their 17 buildings. The company employs more than 2,500 workers in Carlsbad and nearly 5,500 globally, making it the largest development in the city of Carlsbad. 

ViaSat worked with Robinson Brown Design, one of the foremost interior design firms in San Diego, in planning the impressive development. The company expressed their desire to create a custom, iconic space that would engage their employees. They wanted to mix playfulness and productivity within the extent of their colleagues’ environment.

Incorporated into the plans were features such as co-labs outside employee offices, a 4-acre courtyard with areas for hammocks and outdoor meetings, and a restaurant that would change its look to match the daily cuisine; all making for a lively and appealing atmosphere.

Within the scope of this project, ViaSat, additionally built a 5,000 square foot dining and lounge area, complete with 5 food stations, that provided the employees with a secluded area conducive to discussions or spending time alone. 

The ViaSat Café encompasses an impressive 5,000 square feet and includes a stage and flexible architectural elements. The modern touches align with the high tech company’s feel while remaining warm and welcoming. Although they are not consciously noticed, the subtle design aspects, such as air flow and lighting were a considerable part of the project. The designers wanted the cafe to be illuminated with a soft, warm lighting that would be dramatic on its own, but subtle enough to showcase the architectural effort and create a modern, well-lit, energy-efficient and comfortable eating environment.

Lumetta was contracted to fulfill this dream. Our tapered cone pendant lighting solution with handcrafted metal and our own Lumenate® shade was chosen, designed and fabricated to provide the warm amber lighting that worked so well within the natural and organic surroundings. The fixtures added to the ambiance and relaxing atmosphere, and were the perfect complement to the wood furnishings.

The installation of Lumetta’s successful, energy-efficient lighting solutions completes the innovative and forward thinking ViaSat’s vision of employee-focused, high-tech and beach vibe themed environments.

Students were eager to have a place within the school to ‘meet, eat, study and enjoy.  TSK Architects  specified L2 42” Taper pendants in MT Grey and Custom Print in partnership with Nevada Sales Agency.

For Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX, ESa (Earl Swensson Associates)  drew inspiration from both the colonial missions of old and the San Antonio River.  A neutral color palette created a calming, timeless design aesthetic, with the artwork providing color.

Designing for LEED Gold certification, the lighting intent was key.  Natural light permeates the interiors of this 110-bed acute care hospital in the public areas, patient rooms, operating rooms, PACU, and ends of patient corridors.

Every space supports this intent. In the dining area, the choice of Lumetta’s Shadow Box pendant complements, providing a sophisticated light and airy balance within the interior space.  These box pendants  provide a comfortable level of illumination to enhance the dining area. The TransLumenate® diffuser projects a soft ambient light that augments the natural light and matches the color theme with its inner Lumenate® shade.

Shadow Cube 17” Pendant P2094, a cube version of this custom luminaire, can be found under the Shadow Collection. Made of  welded steel and aluminum with a washable exterior TransLumenate®  and a washable core Lumenate®.

Sun-drenched Fort Myers Beach, FL, is home to the beautiful DiamondHead Beach Resort, noted for its suite accommodations and dining options.  Recently, the resort opened Cōste Island Cuisine, a beachfront restaurant featuring panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico.

Cōste was professionally designed featuring a 360-degree quartz bar and floor-to-ceiling windows, covering a total dining and bar square footage of 3,285. Inhabiting the former Chloe’s restaurant space, three room units were taken out, while the bar/lounge was relocated,  to take advantage of the water view.  The previous space was completely gutted and completed with new finishes, flooring, ceiling, tables, seating and lighting to complement the tropical feel and ensure the breathtaking view is unobstructed.

Project Architect Brooks R. Swanson of design schemes of florida, llc, worked with Ron Gruninger of West Coast Lighting Agency, to select the luminaires that would serve the design focus.   Custom Lumetta drums made for an obvious choice.  Various drum sizes ranging from 6’ to 8’ in diameter were strategically spread throughout the restaurant without blocking the panoramic views.   “The challenge was that the ceiling heights we had to work with were only 9’-2” high, so the depth of these large Lumetta drums were sized to fit the space seamlessly,” shares Brooks.

Seen on the installation are various custom drum pendants: P59617 in 96” OD x 9” H and 4” stem,  P57217– 72” OD x 9”H and 30” stem, both with Wood Grain Lumenate®,  P58417 in 84” OD x 9”H and 30” stem, with Slate Lumenate®. All luminaires have top and bottom lenses,  canopies matching frame, F3 Black powder coat finish, with dimmable LED lamping.

When GMB Architecture + Engineering’s Paul Hector sought luminaries to provide the desired illumination for Caledonia High School’s new South Campus Building, he turned to Lumetta’s pendant drums along with a custom piece-a clover leaf luminaire that showcases precise metal work. The luminaires, installed in a variety of areas in the campus, provided the desired appealing soft presence, in both lit and unlit forms, all featuring Xicato modules as lighting source.

Here’s a short Q+A with Paul:

Q: Other than the soft presence, what were the prime project criteria?

Paul: The performance of the luminaire needed to be a primary light source for the space, along with durability and the ability to be cleaned.

Q: What was the design vision or inspiration?

Paul: The project’s design was influenced by the positioning of the building and to bring a connection to the site. A consistent feature was desired for the luminaire given daylight lighting conditions. The inspiration was to create viewpoints and outlooks with multiple focal points and depth; allowing the luminaires to be prominent yet also complement the adjacent luminaires and encompassing architecture.

Q: How did Lumetta help bring that vision to life?

Paul: Meeting the specific luminaire requirements. Especially providing the custom abilities to meet shape and finish.

Preakness Hills Country Club Scores a Hole in One with Lumetta’s Double Drum Light Pendants

Preakness Hills Country Club, founded in 1926, is a member owned premier private country club featuring an 18-hole championship golf course, game practice area and driving range.

Located in the section of Wayne, NJ of the same name, which is derived from the thoroughbred racehorse after whom the middle jewel of the Triple Crown is named.

The house itself is styled as a gracious country manor favored by New York stockbrokers and bankers after World War I. Its spacious center hall has a beautifully crafted grand staircase illuminated by a large dome of Tiffany glass. Throughout its remodeling, the club has kept most of the opulent original features.

Preakness Hills Country Club’s recent renovations included contracting Judd Brown Design to redesign their 19th Hole Lounge—an intimate and accommodating space offering the perfect opportunity for members to gather for cocktails and conversation.

JBD specified Lumetta’s Custom Imperial Double Drum light pendant with custom linen Lumenate® diffusers, which greatly enhanced the classic ambiance at the Country Club.

The luminaires are as much works of art as lighting fixtures, illuminating the club in a classic yet contemporary manner.

The tiered silhouette of lasered metal cutwork against the subtle sheen of the antimicrobial linen replica diffuser creates a dramatic contrast and juxtaposition of crisp geometric design and delicate understated color.

Lighting Choice Was Serious Food for Thought- Lumetta Drum Pendants Chosen for Broadway 10 Bar and Chophouse

Built in the 1920’s as a car dealership, the Buick building’s floor-to-ceiling windows wrap around Broadway 10 Bar and Chophouse in Oklahoma City, OK, for a near-panoramic view of Automobile Alley’s cultural revival.

B10BC’s location is mixed with tradition and the modern culture of the district and offers a polished space with a refined menu in a casual, current atmosphere. The low, modern lines of the central bar and grand dining room allow patrons to enjoy the full impact of 8,000 square feet of carefully renovated space. Large softly lit floor lamps throughout keep each seating area cozy and retain a sense of privacy.

Intimate pendant lighting was also required to complete the ambiance of the environment and Lumetta’s 42” Drum Pendants were specified for the perfect finishing touch.

Designed with our D60 MT Natural Lumenate diffuser and surrounded by an outer ring of amber shades, the pendants were designed, fabricated, and then hung by elaborate custom armatures, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for the patrons.
