Westwind Dental, a new contemporary dental clinic inspired loosely by the comforts of hospitality, is situated on the edge of the fast-growing family community of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada.

The owners wanted to create a practice that was comfortable for both patients and staff, yet still maintained an ease of everyday function. It was important to the vision of the clinic to incorporate other sensory comforts such as heated concrete floors, four fireplaces, custom plaster wall features, quartz countertops, adjusted color temperature lighting within support areas, automated window coverings to reduce glare, and zoned heating and ventilation. These features were integrated into the layout to create a clinic that would be durable for the day to day wear of a commercial space.

The company hired Jennifer Buchanan Interior Design, an award-winning, full-service interior design firm specializing in dental clinic, healthcare, and corporate office design, to execute the core design of the practice. JBID was able to provide valuable design strategy and business consultation to enhance the clinic’s space.* The agency chose to incorporate live edge wood slabs along the reception desk to balance the stone and plaster within the area, thereby enhancing the warmth of the natural wood.

Lumetta was specified by Wow Lighting Inc. to illuminate the space with our 42” Shadow Drum Pendants; utilizing our inner diffuser color D149-Slate and our D921-Trans Cool as the outer shade. The Shadow Drum Pendants were the perfect choice for the ambient lighting solution and beautifully complemented the temperature and the juxtaposition of the cold stone and warm wood elements.

Mackey – Creative Brand + Strategy, a talented group of creative brand strategists, in Plymouth, MN, selected Lumetta to fabricate custom, handcrafted 12″ Cone pendants. The luminaires were made from metal and the agency’s choice of color from Lumetta’s extensive range of Lumenate® color options.

These trendy and elegant lighting solutions reside in the agency’s reception area and add to the Bauhaus atmosphere of the surroundings.

This is the only area that custom lighting was installed and Team Mackey was very pleased to have the fixtures be a focal point upon entry into their creative work environment.

When Sussex Bank and Community Bank of Bergen County merged to form SB One Bank in 2018, a major rebranding strategy was implemented, a key element of which was creating a new look for its banking centers.

Serving as a prototype design for future renovations, the first branch to open after the merger is located at a luxury condominium complex in Weehawken, New Jersey. A community celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony took place, opening the doors of SB One Weehawken to reveal a modern interior in stark contrast to standard banking design.

Traditionally, customers and bankers are often separated by walls, windows or counters, the new design concept evokes a sense of intimacy and privacy, particularly for customers dealing with higher level needs. The space also features a polished color palette and luxurious accents.

DMR Architects was slated as the designer for this project and chose Lumetta’s Drum L2 34” Pendants in MT White as the luminaires that would best support the bank’s vision of an Integrated Banking Experience.

When Isted Technical Sales (Canada) relocated its Regina offices, they saw the move as an opportunity to display their own imagination in lighting design.  Why not turn the offices into a living  showroom of fixtures from some of the manufacturers they represent?  There was the conference room, an important space where team members gather for ideation and updates.  With its high ceiling, it could use luminaires that would make the room stand out; displaying “something” not seen every day.

In Lumetta’s L2 Acoustic, they found an embodiment of aesthetic and function; but one fixture was not going to achieve their vision. Going for originality, they assigned a cluster of drum pendants in different diameters– 18”, 23”, 34”, 42” and 48” OD—in the same 14” height.  While these  all sport a D52MM Silver outer diffuser from the Lumenate® Metallic collection, a mix of energetic Acoustic shades were chosen for the interior.  The cluster balances the high ceiling, as well as  draws the eye to a central point—the table where ideas of innovation and controls typically surface.  Further, the sound dampening attribute of the acoustic helps moderate the positive animation that mark these meetings.

Case in point: Stantec’s visual treatment of custom ring luminaires in varied sizes, ingeniously grouped together to mimic the logo of a Massachusetts medical device company.

Sara Diem, Sr. Associate at Stantec US’s Boston Office, shares the ideation that went behind the project:

What was the design vision or inspiration?

We wanted to create a bold statement above the reception desk in the form of a light fixture. The ceiling height of the atrium space above the desk was positively soaring and we wanted the welcome desk to be marked as a stopping point. A large-scale light fixture, inspired by the company’s simple but elegant logo, did the job.

How did Lumetta help bring that vision to life?

With the help of our lighting design consultant, Lumetta took our conceptual images and engineered an actual working light fixture that looked and functioned just as we had imagined. We started from scratch knowing that Lumetta would be able to create our vision with their custom manufacturing expertise.

For lamping, Samsung with analog dimming, in varied sizes, provided just the right illumination for the space. Opaque Lumenate® for the top, bottom and inner wall, with frame finish in powder coat white, completed the look.

 Lumetta’s Shadow Drum Luminaires Allow Guidewire Software to See Their Headquarters’ Lobby in a New Light

Guidewire the platform for P&C insurance companies, was looking for a modern and versatile lighting design that would be both creative and unobtrusive, for the lobby of their Worldwide Headquarters in San Mateo-Foster City, CA.

Teaming with specifier Reel Grobman Associates, the software company contracted Lumetta to create a series of 18” Shadow Drum Surface Mounts. The double layered luminaires were fabricated with washable and antimicrobial shades that included an opaque amber-colored Lumenate® inner shade encircled by a transparent TransLumenate® outer shade—creating an intriguing effect and adding character to these contemporary luminaires.

Lumetta’s Shadow Drum Surface Mounts were the perfect complement to the architectural elements within the lobby and set off the minimalist design of the room.

Global Real Estate Services Company Banks on Lumetta Lighting Solutions

Greystar Real Estate, a vertically integrated, global rental housing company, located in Charlestown, SC, commissioned LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD., a multifaceted architectural firm with national acclaim, to lead the design of their urban mixed-use project: a 69,000 SF, five-story office building that anchors the corner of Meeting and Columbus Streets, and features 19,000 SF of street level retail / restaurant space fronting Meeting Street and three floors and a penthouse of office space above.

Greystar required a renovated 6,500 SF corporate suite within the office building to be used as the young, energetic and fast growing business’s headquarters. The new office space was implemented in one of the first “skyscrapers” in the city’s history.

Greystar also wanted an “open-office” landscape in which the employees could maximize on the “trading-floor” energy of their flourishing staff. The newly conceived space would occupy the 3rd and 4th floors of the historical 1910 building and would showcase the eclectic juxtaposition of the original neoclassical details combined with additional contemporary enhancements.

LS3P specified Lumetta to design and manufacture the lighting solutions for Greystar Corporate Headquarters’ open space meeting area, which included the installation of our 72” Streamline Pendants that tastefully illuminate the surroundings. When American risk modeling and data analytics company Air Worldwide, headquartered in Boston, MA, decided to renovate their offices, they enlisted interior design studio Packard Design, Inc.. as the specifier to help them find the perfect lighting solutions.
