Opened in October 2020 on the Rochester General Hospital campus, the Sands-Constellation Center for Critical Care is a 7-story, 312,000-square-foot structure that is home to visionary innovation with breakthrough technology and equipment. It’s brought to life by exceptional care teams who are trained in providing the highest level of care for those who need it most.

With a new surgical care center, women’s health and newborn care suites focused on helping families grow and 36 private patient rooms per floor in their medical, surgical and oncology care areas, they’re enhancing lives and preserving health in a place built for the future of healthcare as well as their community.

The design team collaborated on the conception of the interior dĆ©cor and lighting options for the four new family lounges, and Architect Clark Patterson Lee Rochester specified Lumetta’s highly regarded 23ā€ surface mounted drum pendants. The luminaires were chosen in direct response to Lumetta’s reputation within the lighting industry as well as the pendant’s proficiency in dispersing up and down lighting delicately and exquisitely, enveloping the surroundings in a warm and peaceful atmosphere.

By utilizing Lumetta’s clean-lined drum pendants, fashioned from our proprietary antimicrobial LumenateĀ®, the designers were able to play up the soft amber hue and create the perfect addition to blanket the space. The execution of the project allowed for a calm ambient light setting that met the comfort of patients and their families.

Lumetta’s Echo and Shadow Pendants are Central to The Flower Mound Public Library

The Flower Mound Public LibraryĀ reopened after doubling in size to better meet the needs of the town’s growing population.

Just 20 years old, the library building systems needed updating, and the growth in the area created demand for expanded space and services.

Space added on the northern side (12,035 sf) and southern side (4,126 sf) nearly doubled the original library size and included a teen lounge, digital markers’ space, additional study rooms, and small group meeting rooms, as well as a children’s story time room and a quiet reading room.

Komatsu Architecture and Hossley LightingĀ and Power SolutionsĀ were contracted to work on the lighting design and quickly chose Lumetta’s Echo 33ā€ Pendant as well as the Shadow Box 27ā€ Pendant to illuminate the public library. These unique statement lighting solutions served as the focal points within the building—not only illuminating but creating a piece of art that has a contemporary flair.

The Echo pendant represents the eye-catching combination of light + geometry + pattern, creating an ultramodern look. The fixtures deliver both illumination and texture to the space suggesting subtle movement and delivering a close encounter with the art of light.

The Shadow luminaire offers the juxtaposition of a translucent shade layered over our propriety diffusing LumenateĀ® shade for vivid yet subtle lighting. Our dedicated research and development team has established a foundation of versatile materials that allow enormous design potential.

Menchaca Elementary School is a design-build project in Austin, Texas that opened in January 2020.

The 98,600-square-foot campus replaced a dark and badly ventilated aging campus, and evolved through an extensive process engaging teachers, parents, and students. One of the first design-build public K-12 schools in Austin, Menchaca Elementary School was originally conceived as a single building with interior circulation. However, with extensive community engagement, which included a Campus Architectural Team and current students, the design led to three separate buildings surrounding a courtyard brimming with oak trees.

Menchaca Principal Eliza Loyola describes the school as an ā€œindustrial modern campus with a lot of natural elements.ā€ The exteriors are steel and gray, with a focus on nature around the campus.

The two main buildings are linked by covered walkways to a shared, two-story library and media center with makerspaces and quiet study areas. Teaming and collaboration spaces are conveniently located throughout the campus, and include four ā€œlearning villagesā€–groupings of studio spaces and meeting areas.

ā€œThe learning village is a really unique concept that Austin ISD is implementing,ā€Ā stated LPA Design Director of K-12, Kate Mraw. ā€œEach of the learning villages includes studios, collaboration space, and small group rooms, all with transparent or operable connections to each other, where students can create their own learning experiences.ā€

When the architectural designers established their specifications for Menchaca’s perfect lighting solutions, Lumetta’s L2 Tapered Acoustic Pendants were the product of choice. The cone shaped lights were selected for use throughout the school’s interconnecting hallways.

The juxtaposition of brightly colored antimicrobial LumenateĀ® interior diffusers, such as turquoise ā€œCaribbeanā€, bright ā€œSunflowerā€, vibrant ā€œOrangeā€, and mysterious ā€œPomegranateā€ against the aluminum exterior diffusers provides for an understated yet bold modern look and washes the space in a wide arc of light.

The pendants hold a universal aesthetic appeal and captivate the children with their wild and whimsical colors. As an added bonus, the fixtures also keep the noise level down with their sound absorbing acoustic felt outer shades. With the harmonious blend of form and function, Lumetta’s L2 Tapered Acoustic Pendants prove 1 + 1 equals 10!

East Central Regional Hospital’s Cafeteria:
Once in a Blue Moon Interior Lighting Design with Lumetta’s Colorful L2 Tapers

“Good things are associated with blue, like clear days. Just the word ‘blue’ in the singular is fullĀ of optimism and positive connotation to most people.” ― David Carson, American Art Director

East Central Regional Hospital, located in Georgia, is a two-campus facility, providing services for people living with developmental disabilities in a skilled nursing setting.

The medical facility’s dining area recently experienced a major renovation and the transformation, which now includes 180 indoor dining seats and serves 460 patients and staff daily, is nothing short of stunning. The lighting was to be an integral part of the new design and for this reason Lumetta’s L2 Taper lighting was specified to give the surroundings an ethereal atmosphere.

Lumetta’s L2 lighting collection is highly regarded as it offers full creative expression and allows you to pair complementary or contrasting interior and exterior LumenateĀ® shades for an eye-catching combination. LumenateĀ® is a material used for our diffusers and shades which is antimicrobial and washable–crucial requirements in hospital and other healthcare facilities’ lighting fixture specifications.

The lighting acts as both illumination and guide. The color and design follow the curves of the ceiling design to navigate users through the space. The larger brightly colored fixtures fill the generous space’s volume and draw the user’s eye upward. Designers chose blue and green to create a fresh, welcoming feeling for both staff and patients, as well as to play off the other finishes in the space. These areas are now brighter, happier, more functional rooms thanks to the Interiors Department at Dickinson Architects and Lumetta’s magical luminaires.

Lumetta’s Alluring Lighting Illuminates 121 Larchmere Apartments

121 Larchmere Apartments, a modern, upscale living facility and a LEED Silver Certified apartment community located in Cleveland, OH, had previously been an abandoned storefront. The massive building was in rapid decline until First Interstate Properties, with support from local government and the neighborhood community, began their extensive renovations of the housing project.

The beautiful four-story, 88-unit apartment residence is located in the heart of the Larchmere Neighborhood. The building offers its residents spacious accommodations in a vibrant neighborhood that draws visitors from all over the Northeast Ohio region.

During the conversion, it was decided that Lumetta’s Echo Grey pendants were to be specified to illuminate the seating area in the lobby. Fabricated from welded steel / aluminum / acrylic with washable, antimicrobial LumenateĀ® diffusers, these fixtures were an eye-catching combination of light + geometry + pattern and complemented the interior dĆ©cor for a chic, ultramodern look.

Lumetta’s Echo pendants were chosen because the luminaires creatively illuminate any area in a soft yet vivid light, while projecting graceful patterns with a seamless look of both illumination and texture into the space. Echo’s proprietary patterns, colors, and finish choices have been identified with a keen eye towards aesthetics and offer designers many options for creating dramatic and coordinated interiors.

The stylish pendants proudly hang in 121 Larchmere’s lobby, suggesting subtle movement and delivering a close encounter with the art of light. Each fixture’s LumenateĀ® shade creates lighting interpretations as limitless as the imagination.

Whether you want to enhance the look and feel of a space through pendants, surface mounts, or wall sconces, the Echo Collection complements and enhances like no other luminaire.

Carteret Performing Arts Center (CPAC), previously the old Ritz Theater is a 55,000 sq. ft. performing arts and event center, located in Carteret, NJ. The arts center includes a 1,600-seat main auditorium, 500-seat black box theater, 5,000-square-foot art gallery and a rooftop space that has the room to host 200 people. It accommodates a variety of floor configurations for live action theatrical performances, musical performances, trade shows, meetings, and social events.

Everything from the light fixtures and seating to the architecture and aesthetics of the building have been meticulously designed and crafted to meet exact specifications.

Lumetta was chosen to elegantly illuminate the lobby with their dramatic Custom Drum Pendants. The fixtures were created with Powder Coat White finish frames, Pearl White diffusers, RGB lamping, and etched white acrylic bottom lenses. The imposing luminaires range in diameters from 54ā€ to 168ā€.

Diana St. John, Carteret Director of Community Development, stated, ā€œWe love Lumetta’s drum lighting in our lobbies. We recently hosted a NJ Cannabis Insider industry event and with the RGB lamping, we were able to light the drums in green to match their logo on the marquee.ā€

Tom Potter of Potter Architects, LLC explains, ā€œThe lobbies are truly a tribute to all artists. The ceilings are intended to represent their creative minds. Lumetta’s lights represent dreamy swirling ideas floating in the artist’s mind, that will eventually become a work of art. These works of art then reach their apex by becoming a show–formally presented in the adjacent theater. Being able to change the color of these ā€˜floating ideas’ to match a particular theme is a beautiful feature of these grand luminaires.ā€

Monarch Landing Senior Living Residents Bask in the Light of Lumetta’s Luminaires

Monarch LandingĀ is a 62+ Life Plan Community situated on a beautiful 60-acre campus in Naperville, Illinois.

The addition of a state-of-the-art long-term care component of the campus was earmarked as the first phase of an extensive expansion. Architectural firm Perkins Eastman created a fresh impression for current and future residents. Building amenities included a physical therapy suite, café, spa/beauty salon, secured access to and from existing independent living buildings, education/conference room, non-denominational chapel/multi-purpose room, and additional wandering courtyards and gardens.

The inspirational tag line, ā€œPrairie Elegance,ā€ shaped an aesthetic that emphasized an inviting, warm, and comfortable setting with crisp, clean, timeless lines and rich, earthen hues, all set within natural landscapes and gardens.

With this approach in mind, Perkins Eastman specified Lumetta’s signature Tapered 22ā€ Cone Pendants to integrate with and complement the renovated cafĆ©. The dramatic juxtaposition of the handcrafted decorative metal outer frame in an F4 Powder Coat Earth finish against the washable, antimicrobial D141 Sand LumenateĀ® diffuser, was the perfect enhancement to the bistro’s environment.

ā€œLumetta’s Tapered Cone Pendants were selected based on their overall height, design and finish capabilities. Our volume ceiling needed a substantial fixture that would not feel lost in the space, and given our prairie inspired design for the interior, we really loved how we could select finishes that related to this aesthetic. The parchment like diffuser, dark metal accents and vertical and horizontal banding tied in nicely with this style,ā€ statedĀ Jennifer McDermott, IIDA, Associate Principal, Perkins Eastman.

Rogers Behavioral Health recently completed a renovation and expansion of its main campus in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to better serve patients and their families.

Lumetta’s ultra-modern Echo luminaires were chosen to highlight the main campus lobby and sections of the residential areas of the OCD, Anxiety, and Depression Center for adolescent care. The new lobby pictured here creates a positive first impression for families and visitors.

Residential care settings offer children, teens, and adults treatment in a tranquil setting away from the stresses of daily life. Patients receive specialized care for OCD and anxiety, eating disorders, depression and other mood disorders, trauma, and PTSD, as well as a medication-assisted withdrawal management for alcohol and opioid addiction.

Echo is a preferred luminaire for its masterful combination of projection of light, geometry, and pattern—suggesting movement and evoking design in a contemporary way. Designers have always delighted in choosing the customizable Echo for its dramatic use of multiple patterns, colors, and finishes, allowing for many combinations and options to create dramatic and coordinated interiors.

The final installation was nothing short of magical—the soothing playful lighting enhanced and soothed the environment and made for a comfortable setting for patients, their families, and Rogers staff.

LaFace & McGovern recently worked with IKM Architecture and Lovorn Engineering (now Claitman Engineering Services) on the design of an integral addition to the St. Clair Health campus in Pittsburgh, PA. The grand opening of The Dunlap Family Outpatient Center was the largest construction project in St. Clair’s history.

IKM executed the multi-phase renovation over three years without any interruption of service. Common design threads tie The Dunlap Family Outpatient Center at Oxford Drive together aesthetically while creating separate branding identities for each suite.

The guiding principle throughout the building was to create a superior patient experience that would support the growing healthcare needs of Pittsburgh’s South Hills residents.

The DFOCOD features 44 striking Lumetta Drum fixtures, in both pendant and flush-mounted design, throughout their waiting room areas. These drums anchor the spaces–creating a beautiful effect and softening the feel of the waiting rooms. With comfortable chairs and a soft muted palette, the setting immediately puts visitors at ease. The aesthetics, from color schemes to the furniture and lighting, are designed to help reduce stress levels for patients, their families, and the hospital staff.

The 280,000 sf, six-story facility is filled with state-of-the-art technology, medical advancements, and expertise. St. Clair Hospital ACC is a wonderful representation of a collaboration between Lumetta and LaFace & McGovern. This partnership allows us to bring enhancements and modernize campus infrastructure to our region’s healthcare facilities and surrounding communities.

Mercer-Zimmerman

Pulse Design GroupĀ is recognized for designing cutting-edge buildings, interiors and locations and wanted to showcase their own innovative designs to their clients.

When the agency recently moved into their new 10,000-SF headquarters, located on the tenth floor of the 46 Penn Centre building, in Kansas City, MO, their team custom-designed the space featuring an open floor plan and plenty of space to safely collaborate and accommodate staff growth.

The finished product is a welcoming environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and creativity – the perfect stage for a team of healthcare forward-thinking architects, interior designers, medical equipment planners and virtual reality developers.

As PDG is in demand for their contribution to state-of-the-art architectural design, it was essential to incorporate the agency’s innovation into all their projects. This included revealing the latest design and technology in the office’s lighting solutions.

Mercer Zimmerman specified Lumetta’s Custom L2 Drum Pendant for PDG’s new office waiting area. Because the agency’s sole focus and passion is on healthcare projects, Lumetta’s luminaires were chosen to highlight the space. Lumetta’s exclusive LumenateĀ® shades are antimicrobial and can easily be wiped down and cleaned–exactly the type of fixture that would be specified for healthcare facilities.

Cambridge Manor, located in Calgary’s new University District neighborhood, is focused on administrating the highest standard of care for its residents. The four-story senior care campus includes 240 units that provide residences for independent, long-term care, and memory care living.

A center for research on aging, with ties to the University of Calgary’s Research on Aging Program, will use one wing of the facility as a ā€œliving labā€ for research that will provide multidisciplinary opportunities for researchers and students. The research will look at enhancing dementia care, optimizing technology, design and service systems, transitions in care for older adults, social engagement, and falls.

The campus is connected to Maple Independent Living, a 95-unit independent living facility, via a plus-30 pedestrian walkway. This connection allows residents of both buildings to connect and share amenities.

S2 Architecture facilitated extensive functional programming and site master planning exercises to understand the needs of the residents and staff, spatial relationships, density, and massing.

The architectural firm ultimately chose Lumetta to fabricate our custom L2 Drum Pendant with a washable, antimicrobial LumenateĀ® outer shade in D149 Slate and a complementary D66 MT Bone inner shade to provide illumination to the corridors–giving a sense of elegance to the space.
