Rogers Behavioral Health Enchanted with Lumetta’s Echo LuminairesOctober 2021

Rogers Behavioral Health recently completed a renovation and expansion of its main campus in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to better serve patients and their families.

Lumetta’s ultra-modern Echo luminaires were chosen to highlight the main campus lobby and sections of the residential areas of the OCD, Anxiety, and Depression Center for adolescent care. The new lobby pictured here creates a positive first impression for families and visitors.

Residential care settings offer children, teens, and adults treatment in a tranquil setting away from the stresses of daily life. Patients receive specialized care for OCD and anxiety, eating disorders, depression and other mood disorders, trauma, and PTSD, as well as a medication-assisted withdrawal management for alcohol and opioid addiction.

Echo is a preferred luminaire for its masterful combination of projection of light, geometry, and pattern—suggesting movement and evoking design in a contemporary way. Designers have always delighted in choosing the customizable Echo for its dramatic use of multiple patterns, colors, and finishes, allowing for many combinations and options to create dramatic and coordinated interiors.

The final installation was nothing short of magical—the soothing playful lighting enhanced and soothed the environment and made for a comfortable setting for patients, their families, and Rogers staff.

The Art of Light: St. Clair Hospital’s Dunlap Family Outpatient Center Beautifully Enhanced by Lumetta’s Drum LuminairesOctober 2021

LaFace & McGovern recently worked with IKM Architecture and Lovorn Engineering (now Claitman Engineering Services) on the design of an integral addition to the St. Clair Health campus in Pittsburgh, PA. The grand opening of The Dunlap Family Outpatient Center was the largest construction project in St. Clair’s history.

IKM executed the multi-phase renovation over three years without any interruption of service. Common design threads tie The Dunlap Family Outpatient Center at Oxford Drive together aesthetically while creating separate branding identities for each suite.

The guiding principle throughout the building was to create a superior patient experience that would support the growing healthcare needs of Pittsburgh’s South Hills residents.

The DFOCOD features 44 striking Lumetta Drum fixtures, in both pendant and flush-mounted design, throughout their waiting room areas. These drums anchor the spaces–creating a beautiful effect and softening the feel of the waiting rooms. With comfortable chairs and a soft muted palette, the setting immediately puts visitors at ease. The aesthetics, from color schemes to the furniture and lighting, are designed to help reduce stress levels for patients, their families, and the hospital staff.

The 280,000 sf, six-story facility is filled with state-of-the-art technology, medical advancements, and expertise. St. Clair Hospital ACC is a wonderful representation of a collaboration between Lumetta and LaFace & McGovern. This partnership allows us to bring enhancements and modernize campus infrastructure to our region’s healthcare facilities and surrounding communities.

Covid-19 Vaccine UpdateOctober 2021

Delta Variant

The CDC recently announced the urgent need for the COVID-19 vaccination and recommended that everyone in high transmission areas wear a mask in public indoor places, even if they are fully vaccinated.

A significant increase in new cases has reversed what had been a steady decline since January 2021. There is now an alarming rise in COVID-19 hospitalization rates throughout the US.

The Delta variant is more infectious and is leading to increased transmissibility when compared with other variants, even in some vaccinated individuals.

Delta is currently the predominant variant of the virus in the country. Below is a high-level summary of what CDC scientists have recently learned about the Delta variant.

  • The Delta variant is highly contagious, more than 2x as contagious as previous variants.
  • The Delta variant might cause more severe illness than previous variants in unvaccinated people.
  • The greatest risk of transmission is among unvaccinated people who are much more likely to get infected and transmit the virus.
  • Fully vaccinated people get COVID-19 less often than unvaccinated people.
  • Anyone infected with the Delta variant, including fully vaccinated people with symptomatic breakthrough infections, can transmit the virus to others.
  • The CDC is continuing to assess whether fully vaccinated people with asymptomatic breakthrough infections can also transmit the virus.
  • Fully vaccinated people with Delta variant breakthrough infections can spread the virus to others—however they appear to spread the virus for a shorter time.
  • Vaccines in the US are highly effective, including against the Delta variant.
  • The COVID-19 vaccines approved in the US are highly effective at preventing severe disease and death, including against the Delta variant.
  • The vaccine provides the best protection against serious illness and death.
  • Vaccines are crucial to limiting the spread of the virus and minimizing severe disease. Even with the risk of breakthrough infections being low, there will be thousands of fully vaccinated people who become infected and are able to infect others.
  • Low vaccination rate is causing a rapid surge in cases involving the Delta variant, which also increases the chances of more concerning variants emerging.
  • Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community.
  • High vaccination coverage will reduce the spread of the virus and help prevent new variants from emerging.
  • The CDC recommends that everyone aged 12 years and older get vaccinated as soon as possible.
  • Given what we know about the Delta variant, vaccine effectiveness, and current vaccine coverage, the wearing of masks is needed to reduce the transmission of this variant.
  • As we build on the level of vaccination nationwide, we must also use all the prevention strategies available, including masking indoors in public places, to stop transmission and stop the pandemic.
  • Everyone who is able, including fully vaccinated people, should wear masks in public indoor places in areas of substantial or high transmission.

Lumetta Has Its Finger on the Pulse of Lighting DesignOctober 2021

Pulse Design Group is recognized for designing cutting-edge buildings, interiors and locations and wanted to showcase their own innovative designs to their clients.

When the agency recently moved into their new 10,000-SF headquarters, located on the tenth floor of the 46 Penn Centre building, in Kansas City, MO, their team custom-designed the space featuring an open floor plan and plenty of space to safely collaborate and accommodate staff growth.

The finished product is a welcoming environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and creativity – the perfect stage for a team of healthcare forward-thinking architects, interior designers, medical equipment planners and virtual reality developers.

As PDG is in demand for their contribution to state-of-the-art architectural design, it was essential to incorporate the agency’s innovation into all their projects. This included revealing the latest design and technology in the office’s lighting solutions.

Mercer Zimmerman specified Lumetta’s Custom L2 Drum Pendant for PDG’s new office waiting area. Because the agency’s sole focus and passion is on healthcare projects, Lumetta’s luminaires were chosen to highlight the space. Lumetta’s exclusive Lumenate® shades are antimicrobial and can easily be wiped down and cleaned–exactly the type of fixture that would be specified for healthcare facilities.

Covid-19 Vaccine Booster ShotsAugust 2021

Booster Shots FAQ:

When Will the COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shot be Available?
COVID-19 booster shots will become available in the fall, 8 months after eligible individuals receive their second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna.

Who Will be the First People to Get a Booster Shot?
The people who are most at risk will be the first to be eligible for booster shots. This includes healthcare providers, residents of long-term care facilities, and other older adults.

Why is the US Waiting to Start Offering COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shots?
COVID-19 vaccines in the US are highly effective in reducing risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and death, even against the Delta variant. However, the virus constantly evolves, and experts are looking at how the vaccines are working, including how new variants, like Delta, affect the efficacy of the vaccine.

Will People Who Received Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen (J&J/Janssen) COVID-19 Vaccine Need a Booster Shot?
People who received a J&J COVID-19 vaccine will most likely need a booster shot. The data needed to make this decision aren’t available yet.

Can People Who Received Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen (J&J/Janssen) COVID-19 Vaccine Get a Booster Shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna Vaccine?
There aren’t enough data currently to support getting an mRNA (Pfizer BioNTech or Moderna) vaccine dose if someone has gotten a J&J/Janssen vaccine.

If We Need a Booster Shot, Does That Mean the Vaccines Aren’t Working?
COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death, even against the Delta variant. However, public health experts are seeing reduced protection against mild and moderate disease with the Delta variant.

What’s the Difference Between a Booster Shot and an “Additional” Shot?
Some people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised do not build enough (or any) protection when they first get vaccinated. Getting another dose of the vaccine can sometimes help them build more protection against the disease. CDC recommends these people consider receiving a third dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days after they complete the initial 2-dose mRNA COVID-19 vaccine series.

A “booster shot” refers to another dose of a vaccine that is given to someone who has built enough protection after vaccination, but that protection has decreased over time.
