New Variants of the Virus that Causes COVID-19March 2021

As expected with virus mutations, new variants may emerge and then quickly disappear. Sometimes the new variants will emerge and linger. Multiple variants of COVID-19 have been circulating globally during the pandemic, including within the US.

A South African and a Brazilian variant of the virus seem to be spreading more easily and more quickly than other variants, which could lead to more cases of COVID-19. Not unlike the original COVID-19 outbreak, this increase in cases would lead to more hospitalizations and potentially more deaths.

To date, studies suggest that antibodies created through the authorized vaccines recognize these new variants. While the virus and its variants continue to be closely monitored, more studies are ongoing to learn more about the control of their spread.

We don’t know how widely these new variants have spread or how the disease caused by the variants differs from the disease caused by other variants that are circulating. Nor do we understand how these variants may affect existing therapies, vaccines, and other tests.

Continued rigorous and increased compliance with public health mitigation strategies, such as vaccination, physical distancing, use of masks, hand hygiene, and isolation and quarantine, is essential to limit the spread of COVID-19 and protect public health.

Lumetta’s antimicrobial Lumenate® diffusers can be safely cleaned with any commercial cleaning agent.March 2021

Comfort and cleanliness were two of the main lighting goals for the St. John’s Hospital project, in Springfield, Illinois. The Lumetta wall sconces selected for the patient rooms provide a soft illumination that is functional without harsh glare. The numerous Lumenate® finish & pattern options allowed the interior designer to find something that perfectly matched her design intent. Cleanability is critical in a hospital, especially in a NICU. The fact that the Lumenate® decorative diffuser can safely be cleaned with any commercial cleaning agent combined with the anti-microbial properties of the diffuser made Lumetta the obvious “go-to” for an application like this.

When Will the COVID-19 Vaccines be Available Throughout the United States?January 2021

The CDC and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices have released recommendations as to who should be vaccinated first. These recommendations should help guide in the distribution of the initial limited supplies of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Although the CDC indicates who should be offered the COVID-19 vaccine first–each state has its own plan to prioritize, distribute, and allocate the vaccine to its citizens. As more vaccines are released for use in the US, and the supply of vaccines increases, several thousand vaccination locations will become available–such as doctors’ offices, retail pharmacies, hospitals, and federally qualified health centers. Please contact your state health department for more information on its plan for the COVID-19 vaccination.

Lumetta’s Lumenate® Dividers: A Riveting Response to Covid-19 Protection:January 2021

As announced in our December newsletter, Lumetta will begin manufacturing our own protective Lumenate® Dividers in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the urgent need to protect businesses’ staff, visitors, and customers.

There has been a high demand for these panels from architects and contractors, as well as from facility managers in many sectors such as Retail, Restaurant, Education, Office, Government, Airports, Hospitality, Healthcare, Banking and others.

Our tastefully designed Lumenate® Dividers are an excellent way of preventing infectious spread of the Covid-19 virus via respiratory droplets. In addition to their protective properties, these colorful and stylish panels are washable, antimicrobial and look great in any setting.

You don’t have to settle on bulky plexiglass panels that allow distracting surrounding activities to intrude on your space or that fog, mar or scratch easily. Table and desk top panels also crowd surface areas as well, while these suspended dividers allow you to better clean surrounding surfaces in addition to the dividers. Additionally, the surfaces of our flexible, protective panels are infused with antimicrobial germ- and virus-free technology and can easily be cleaned with any commercial cleaner.

These mood-enhancing and relaxing protective panels will now be available in a multitude of colors and opacities and will make social distancing and space management a thing of comfort and beauty. You can customize the panels to easily partition your space. Choose from a variety of (24) different shade options to fit your needs–varying from clear (completely transparent) or clear w/ a matte finish to gorgeous translucent solid colors or designer patterns: Ornament, Intertwine, Leaf, Delta or Abstract Floral. Increase both employee and customer well-being with these versatile, custom designed panel dividers and help ensure the health and safety of the public, while maintaining an appealing environment.

Lumenate® Divider panels are designed to be suspended and are available in our standard size of 30” x 60”. The panels can also be joined from side-to-side with our hardware to form a 5’ x 5’ panel (or longer width in 30” increments). The conformable panels can be mounted to the floor (table, desk, etc.) for additional support, if desired.

The framework for these stunning, portable works of art is offered in 11 of our standard powder coat finishes and makes for a sturdy, secure and reconfigurable design. The innovative partitions are fully customizable with any color, design or logo of your choice and of course are 100% USA Made. These forward-thinking dividers are also designed to serve as a valuable fixture in our future post-Covid interior spaces and can even be coordinated with Lumetta’s lighting products for a complementary and stylish environment.

Lanier Technical College Adds Lumetta Lighting to its List of Spectacular AttractionsDecember 2020

Lanier Technical College, the foremost workforce development resource in northeast Georgia, commands attention with its spectacular views of the campus, the adjacent Ramsey-Fraser Lake, and the surrounding foothills of the north Gainesville area. Entrances, terraces, and windows all share advantageous views of these assets.

When the university recently began the process of a very impressive and cutting-edge design overhaul of their 325,000 square-foot campus at their new Gainesville location, they chose prime design professional Pond, in association with Stevens & Wilkinson, to create a meaningful and impressive environment with their interior design, furnishings, and fixtures.

The project included the creation of a ballroom layout serving as a primary meeting venue that could also be sub-divided into smaller meeting rooms. The ballroom/meeting rooms had a combined seating capacity of 920 and also linked directly to the storage facility, support, and catering kitchen.

Lumetta was considered first and foremost as the lighting solution supplier for the job, engineering and manufacturing 36 elegant custom two-tiered Drums, 8 Xina Drum Pendants, and 8 matching Xina sconces, as well as 9 Silhouette sconces

Each of the three families had a characteristic and specific look, however, because all of Lumetta’s collections gracefully complement each other, this installation, including beautiful amber lighting, offset and dramatically enhanced the organic look of the facilities.

Lanier Technical College was extremely pleased with the ambient lighting that was both striking and inviting for everyone who utilized the new space.

Lumetta designed and built custom luminaires for the Texas Women’s University. Working with this company was a great experience. Their quality is amazing. STW University was very impressed, and the architect and I were both extremely pleased. They are professional, friendly, and very easy to do business with. I would work with them any time, without hesitation.

December Covid-19 BriefDecember 2020

UPDATE: With 20 million Americans slated to be vaccinated in mid-December and another 30 million every month thereafter, there is hope of some semblance of normalcy returning to the US as soon as May.

“On the 11th or on the 12th of December, hopefully the first people will be immunized across the United States, across all states,” Operation Warp Speed Chief Science Adviser Dr. Moncef Slaoui told CNN’s State of the Union.

Health care workers and highly vulnerable people will be first, but “it is each state that will decide … who they will vaccinate,” Slaoui said.

The CDC continues to strongly urge vigilant hand hygiene, utilizing infection prevention controls and promotes efforts to educate the public on the appropriate use of antimicrobials for protection against the Covid-19 virus.

More information from the CDC about Covid-19 cases in the US and in your state can be found here:
